The Greek lawmaker who introduced the first written code of law in Athens in 621 BC. The code was said to be written in blood because most of the crimes were punishable by death. The word Draconian now means harsh or cruel. This code made the government responsible for upholding the law and helped Athens become one of the first city states.

DUENDE

(doo EN day)n. From the Spanish. Meaning ghost or demon. Duende is the mystical idea of the inner burning or restless demon which animates flamenco musicians and dancers. It is the ethereal quality of flamenco that stops listeners in their tracks.
